How long can I wear my contact lenses?

Although the lifespan of contact lenses is determined by their characteristics, it is important to consider the maximum daily time  that is recommended to wear them. Here, we enter into a matter of visual health, since the lenses are in constant contact with the eye. Therefore, it is essential that you follow hygiene instructions and that you do not use your contact lenses for longer than recommended.

In this regard, if you use daily lenses, you should do so only once and for a maximum of 8 to 10 hours. In the case that the lenses are weekly, monthly, cosmetic, conventional, or semi-rigid, you must always respect the duration marked for their use (one week, one month, two years). You should never exceed that time or use them for more than 12 hours a day, as prolonged use could lead to infections and eye damage.

Finally, it is important for you to know that the lifespan of each lens does not depend on how you use them. That is, not using contact lenses for a week in the case of monthly lenses, for example, does not mean they last longer. Once the packaging containing them is opened, you must count the period from that moment.
